Day #1 for Breezy behind the wheel!

I’m a bit nervous, but feeling really good.  Pretty excited to be the driver for the day.  So there I am behind the wheel doing my  new mental checklist:  seat moved forward -check,  mirrors adjusted -check,  everything strapped down-check, no traffic coming -check.  Okay I’m ready to pull out.  Here we go.  Everything is going totally awesome for the first 4 seconds then…

“WHOA!”  Matt shouts!  “What!?!” I say.  Turns out that I was inches from a black Lexus.  Okay, oopsey!  Obviously not the best way to start out.  A quick recovery and we are back on track.  Our journey was to Whole Foods and to Costco.  We purchased some fresh organic fruits, veggies and cereal from Whole Foods then off to Costco.  While in the Costco parking lot we learned that we can pull all the way forward and take up just over 1 parking space.  Good to know.  Costco provided us with the memory foam mattress topper for our new bed.  (Yes, we had to cut the corner off and trim it down, but that was easy enough with scissors and a box cutter.)

The drive back was a little bit smoother with Matt only shouting “RED LIGHT!” or “LOOK OUT!” a time or 2.  I could not get over how close cars got to us.  I spent so much time making sure I didn’t hit another moving vehicle that I tended to lose focus of the really important things -like stopping at stop lights.  I think it will take some getting used to, but I believe soon I will be a stellar RV driver.

Oh by the way, those that deal with RV’s regularly call them Coaches.  Good to know.  Our Coach needs a name.  Any suggestions?

Matt spent a good part of today learning about what is under the hood of our Coach.  He tinkered with all the switches and knobs and read the manual.  We have a small glitch with the power, so tomorrow we will take it somewhere and have it looked at.

Our day ended with Texas style bbq at Backyard BBQ with the Tallals.

Everyone was a bit nervous when we pulled up and there was not another living soul in the restaurant. BUT MAN WAS IT GOOD!!

We spent some time talking with the owner who was a very nice Dallas man.

He talked to us about smoking ribs and his time spent in SD.

We gave our compliments to the chef and made our way home.

With full bellies and full hearts it is time for bed.

xoxo,
Breezy

  1. Hi guys,

Cool blog. So how long are you on your journey? Are you going back to SD, or moving to a new destination?

    1. Hi Rhonda (and Swan family)!
We are on the journey indefinitely (until it seems like time to not be on it). We are in SD and actually plan on staying here for a bit before heading out around the country.
Hope all is well with the unstoppable family and your world tour and adventures. All the best from Bree and I.
